Compendium / Rulings

Ruling: The Infinite Quarrel is a term keyed by Mad One himself, and it explains the nuances to what “halving a hand size” is in regards to Mad One himself. If you are on the backside of Mad One, you are only halving the permanent hand size value that your opponent has. For example, in a normal singles match with a handsize of 10, the value of the opponents hand changes to 5.

When we add in something like Director of Operations, that is considered a “permanent” change to the hand size, as it adds a passive +2 to handsize. So, a value of 12 would go to 6. However if you have Lucky Shot and another lead in play, with Director of Operations as your Entrance, your handsize would not continue to get cut in half; it would only change your normal value of 12 to 6, and then apply Lucky Shot’s hand additions separately, making your handsize 8 in this scenario.

To lay out the scenario cleanly: If I am playing a competitor in a normal stipulation, my handsize is 10. If The Mad One flips over, my handsize is now 5. If my Entrance card is Director of Operations, my handsize was 12, and turned into 6. Then, if I add to my handsize using any card, that addition to my handsize is counted after my handsize was halved.

Leaving imbalance in Mad One’s perfect world; in your favor!
