Compendium / Rulings

Ruling (Crowd Meter Swapping): Changing the crowd meter to Ring of Fire is only effective while Evil Ed has his gimmick triggered. If he loses his keywords the match changes back to a regular match stipulation.

Changing the stipulation will still retain the crowd meter you were presently on.

In the case you are not in a Standard Crowd Meter, breaking out in Ring of Fire will be considered breaking out of a Ring of Fire for Stipulation. Once breakout happens you will miss “On Breakout” effects that would exist on a meter such as Main Events Crowd Meter 0.

After Breakout – board clears (It becomes a regular meter at this stage), crowd meter increases, relevant board clear gimmicks or stipulation text resolves.

If you’re in a special stipulation like Last Man Standing, and a finish was previously removed from the game, and then you switch to Ring of Fire, that finish is still considered removed from the game.

If you’re in a special stipulation like Buddy Building which does not typically allow for Finish Rolls, changing the crowd meter to a Ring of Fire will bypass this effect of Buddy Building.

Switching to the Ring of Fire crowd meter, copies the entirety of the meter, hand size 8 and No Disqualifications included.

If you are in a Birdcage or similar format where it is multi-man but not Tag Team, and you end in a 1v1 with another player, the match is still not considered a Singles match for Gimmick.

Ruling: Evil Ed will check to see if he meets the keyword requirement limit on his gimmick before the card effect and/or finish roll resolves. This means the 4th card being played may trigger its applicable “Ring of Fire” text.

Evil Ed VS OG General Manager Calace – Calace changes the default crowd meter, if Evil Ed switches the match to a Ring of Fire match, and then later loses his keywords, the match will return to Calace’s original choice.

Evil Ed VS Tournament Assigned Stipulations – Unlike Calace who changes the default match type and therefor is over-ruled by Tournament Organizers assignment of Stipulation; Evil Ed does not make any permanent change to the meter, and can swap a meter off of a tournament assigned stipulation, just keep in mind the assigned stipulation is the default that comes back if Evil Ed loses his gimmick.

Multi-Man Rules – Evil Ed must get 4 of his keywords on a single player to change the crowd meter to Ring of Fire, but once it has activated on one player, it changes it to Ring of Fire for all participants in the match. Including Evil Ed’s partner.

If there are 4 keywords on each opponent, the crowd meter will remain Ring of Fire after Breaking out and clearing board. (This is also how the Mirror Match, or a Gimmick Copy of Evil Ed would be handled) If you only have a set of keywords on one opponent and break out that opponent, the match reverts to Tag Team.

In Tag Team Ring of Fire, saving, protecting, and double teaming are still a legal mechanic that is not removed by Ring of Fire.

In the instance you are in a stipulation match in Tag Team, that becomes the default meter it would return to. Please see the above rulings if relevant.

A tag up is a “Combined Turn” and if one player passes, buries and by proxy to Ring of Fire flips the last card in their deck, both players on that team will proceed to be burnt alive.

Note: The second row of finishes come with Evil Ed V2
